Classrooms

Dear Grade 4 Students and Families,

Below you will find an important message from Westfield Intermediate School.

Welcome to Westfield Intermediate School; Home of the WIS Polar Bear. We are very excited to meet you and know that you are curious about coming to a new school. We will try to make your transition as easy as possible. Our plan is to send you a new video each week that introduces you to our staff and building.

There will be many emails and letters sent home with instructions and schedules as we get closer to opening day. We will also be sending your homeroom assignment in mid August.

WIS has 16 homerooms that make up 8 teams in 5th grade. You will be assigned to a team with a Humanities teacher and a STEM teacher. We offer 6 different specials. Art, Music, P.E., Health, Computer Science and Digital Literacy. You will have two different specials every day for each trimester. Students can take either Band or Chorus at WIS. If you are a Band or Chorus student, you will be enrolled for the whole year, so you will only get 3 additional specials (one per trimester). Band and Chorus students will typically have P.E., Health and a computer class.

At WIS we use Polar Points for PBIS. We give out Polar Points when we see that you are Accountable, Safe or Kind. We will often remind you to A.S.K. yourself if you are any or all of these. Polar Points can be used in a variety of ways, including in our school store, as admission to Spirit Nights, for special events or privileges in your classrooms.

We know that you will have lots of questions over the summer and we will try to answer all of them. Keep checking our school website (wis.schoolsofwestfield.org) for information throughout the summer.

Your first task is to answer a couple of questions for us. Please open the link and answer the questions about Band and Chorus so we can start planning. https://forms.gle/nWLmnPM6ywCbFGweA

We hope that you have a great end of your 4th grade school year and we look forward to meeting each of you in the fall.

Best,

Mrs. Bourque, Mr. Miller and Mrs. Chapin
