Mrs. Dunlop

Hello, My Name Is...

Mrs. Dunlop

Welcome to Fourth Grade!

Dear Parents/Guardian:

My name is Mrs. Dunlop, and I will be your child's fourth grade teacher.  I hope this will be an exciting and challenging year for your child.

The beginning of a new year can be very challenging-new teacher, new friends, new challenges, and new responsibilities.  My goal this year for your child is to make him/her an active learner.  Through lessons, manipulatives, and projects, I hope your child will seek answers to problems, apply concepts learned, and above all enjoy learning and growing as a student.

Homework – Homework will be given Monday-Thursday.  There will be no homework on Friday.  Students are required to read (a book of their choice) 15 minutes per evening every night. The title of the book and pages read will be recorded in the homework journal. Homework is used to see if a child has mastered a task or where a student may need additional help.  It is not graded, but is checked for completion. If your child has difficulty with the homework, please write a note in the agenda and I will review the material with him/her.  Assignments are corrected together the following day.  For the first term, please check your child's homework for completion and initial the homework journal.

Absences – All work will be ready for the student upon their return.  If a student will be absent for more than three days and you would like to pick up the material, please call the office by noon to ensure that the assignments will be ready.

Snack – Students will have a quick working snack every morning.  Please send in a small, healthy snack for your child to enjoy.  Due to the number of food allergies, we will not be celebrating birthdays with snacks in the classroom.  We will, however, find many ways to celebrate our successes and achievements throughout the year.

Thank you for your support.  If you ever have any concerns, please feel free to contact me by note or phone call (572-6519).

Sincerely,

Mrs. Dunlop
