Dear Parents and Families,

It’s hard to believe that September is just around the corner. I hope summer has been good to your families and that the students have read, relaxed, and had fun. Doing what is best for all students has been my top priority over the course of my career and that will continue as I begin my tenure as the Principal at Paper Mill Elementary. As we get to know each other my hope is that you begin to see my philosophy and what I value evidenced in each school day. Student safety, academic achievement, and the process of continuous improvement are focal points for the coming year.

All elementary schools now share specialists. New to Paper Mill are Donna Pirog a Health Education teacher and Valerie Tettemer who will be the second Technology Education teacher. We will share Lisa Dubchak and Emily Baker as Music teachers. We welcome back Diane Igel in Physical Education, Lou Kochanek as a Technology Education teacher and Melissa Van Heynigen as the Art teacher. Staff changes you will see at PaperMill are the teachers for the district wide special education program that has been known as the CLEAR program. These classrooms serve students who require a substantially separate setting. We welcome Mrs. Bethany Smith who taught in Springfield and Mrs. Kimberly Longe who was teaching for a private preschool program.

Relationships are important on all levels in the school setting. Because we value healthy communication between home and school all classroom teachers will be calling to speak to parents during the first three weeks of the school year. This is your time to talk about your child as a learner and to tell the teacher what you see as goals for your child for this year. In addition, you will see that the school’s website has been updated and we are working with the PTO to use Facebook more frequently. As a school community we will support your student to grow and learn both academically and socially. The Fall Open House and Book Fair Night will be September 20th from 5:30-7:30 P.M. My best wishes for the start to the year.
